Here is the story of the day. This is sickening, and is a perfect example of how ass-backwards the justice system is. A mother of two is facing jail time for seeking out life saving cannabis oil to treat her son’s horrifying seizures.
After her son Trey was hit in the head with a baseball at the age of 12, he suffered traumatic brain injuries which causes him muscle tremors, severe head pain, and seizures.
“We chose to treat him with medicinal cannabis oil, which saved his life, after all doctors failed him,” explains Angela Brown.
This means that the didn’t just go to the local drug dealer and pick up some oil because they were trying to be alternative. They tried all the conventional options (18 to be exact), and none of them provided Trey with any relief.
“I cry like every day before I go to bed,” Trey said. And the pain is intense. “Like my brain is about to blow up, cause there is so much pressure,” he said.
He often told his mother he didn’t want to live anymore. Eventually a medical doctor actually advised the family to seek out cannabis oil in Boulder, CO. And to their amazement, it actually provided him with relief. His muscle spasm stopped, and so did the pain.
Trey’s performance in school began to skyrocket as a result of the treatment, and his curious teachers were asking him for the reasons for his improvements. Trey’s school found out about the cannabis oil treatments and reported Angela Brown to authorities.
“I broke the law, but I did it to save my son…..We are good hard working people that were just trying to save our son’s life. It has been a living hell since his injury and this just adds to our ever growing stress.”
She was subsequently arrested and charged with two gross misdemeanor counts of child endangerment. One for permitting a child to use an illegal substance. People drop like flies from legal substances like tobacco and alcohol, but when a mother uses the oil of a plant that grows in nature as medicine to save her sons life, she gets arrested.

Angela is now facing a possible 2 years in prison and a $6,000 fine.
The ironic turn to this story is that Minnesota is the 22nd state to approve medical marijuana and her son’s condition is covered under this provision. But the law does not go into effect until July of 2015, so their actions are still considered illegal. In other words, medical marijuana is legally allowed to be administered to people with the condition her son has, but the law doesn’t become finalized until July of next year.
