As we spoke before, we have all got that “Gut Feeling” that tells you one thing but your rational mind just says “ no it can’t be “ but in the end, you were better off listening to your gut feeling, good chance you ended up regretting you didn’t listen to your feelings but instead decided to go full rational.
We have talked about balance before and again I’m going to say it’s very important. Balance your gut feeling and your rational mind and you will find yourself growing as a person.
Your intuition is the subconscious leader that you fail to give proper respect to, learning to listen to this “internal compass “that is trying to guide you and make you take better decisions will eventually lead to a more fulfilling life.
“I define intuition as the subtle knowing without ever having any idea why you know it, It’s different from thinking, it’s different from logic or analysis … It’s a knowing without knowing.” – Sophy Burnham
It is your inner guidance, your unconscious reasoning, the voice in your head that tells you to turn right but your logical sense tell you it’s a mandatory left, learn to let go and give your intuition a chance
“There is a growing body of anecdotal evidence, combined with solid research efforts, that suggests intuition is a critical aspect of how we humans interact with our environment and how, ultimately, we make many of our decisions,” said Ivy Estabrooke of the Office of Naval Research, who is investigating the power of intuition which has helped troops make important and quick decisions during combat. “
Your intuition can come in many shapes and forms, regardless of the situation, whether is deciding which job to take or conflict in your family, sometimes it knows better than your rational mind.
The problem is whether you want to listen to your little voice “gut feeling “or have you buried it to deep that you are having issues bringing it up again and trusting it.
Good news is that even if you did bury it deep down, you can still find it, focus and learn to heart it and listen to it again
Try these 7 ways to better listen to your intuition:
Meditation – Spend time alone, in silence with yourself. Showering is a good form of meditation in itself. Try it.
Creativity – We are all creative in some way or other, try drawing, writing, painting, coloring adult books or even making music, learning an instrument.
Commune with nature – Get outside every day, take a moment a look at trees, birds and your surroundings. Enjoy.
Learn to Listen – When you’re not talking, you are listening and you notice things differently, learn to listen to friends and family, see how they talk and look for details.
Let Go – Don’t live in regret, learn to let go, relax. Get used to the idea that you don’t have control of everything and that life just happens sometimes.
Be Body Conscious – Also Listen to your body, it speaks a lot to you, either if it’s feeling tired, joyful or having a problem, back pain, any pain, listen to it and follow it.
Stay Positive – Be a mood booster in the room. A 2013 study in the journal Psychological Science found that being in a good mood boosted participant’s abilities to make intuitive calls in a word game. Work on becoming happier, healthier and get yourself some good habits.
These are things that are good for your emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, no matter your end goal. And if cultivated regularly, they could lend themselves to better decision making.
