Cinemagraphs are the coolest thing to hit still photos since color. With a touch of animation, new life is pumped into a photo. They are the artistic equivalent to a fishing lure twitching in front of a fish, begging for attention. Like most fish, it’s really hard not to take the bait.
The process is fairly simple, thanks to nifty software applications like Adobe Photoshop. It begins by taking a still photo and then a movie of the same scene. Then you overlay the two and that’s where Photoshop skills come into play. With technology advancing and continually dumbed down for consumers it’s safe to say that soon we will all be making these images a reality in our personal lives (slow clap).
Here is a collection of of cinemagraph’s that will make you say awe.
The Flood. RUN!
The next 8 images are by a photographer named Romain Laurent. I absolutely love the style, using midair moves, shadows and bubble gum better than anyone else I stumbled across.
The lightning flash in a giant storm cloud.
Really cool way to capture the waterfall. A bit pixelated around the water but not an easy task to pull off. Overall well done.
Try this after work sometime. The beer and the picture.
This is so lovely. Massive potential for further manipulation of color and intensity as well. The more I stare at this, the more my creative juices begin flowing.
Great shot. The single head following the model. Just for a moment, then onto the next one.
There is something about a gun pointed at you that is always powerful. The shaking hand indicate amateur status.
So cool! A quick flip of the earring. The left earring on both women is moving, alone with the shadow. The rest is a mystery.
The local diner. Fatty foods. ‘Murica…
This is likely easier to pull off. The water on the outside of the boat on a quick loop, along with the (dead?) man. Love it.
Poker face.
The miniature city look, along with the road, which is sped up to look like a river of flowing lights.
The waterfall moves. The world watches.
The beautiful hippy girls picks off the seeds, thinking of the lost souls of men who were ready to open their hearts for a lasting glimpse into what makes her shine.
Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg capture a few rad images of NYC. The glasses bring everything into focus.
The female form: delicate and divine. So beautiful.
Wake and stir.
This product is so good it freezes everything.
A hot, unhealthy hot dog on a cold day.
Where to travel next?
Great idea.
Warm breath on a cold day.
Most excellent. The girls with camera’s are frozen in time, along with a couple others. Interesting to consider.
Prediction: she just took a sip.
You knew this would get freaky.
I’ve done this dance.
The taxi does not stop.
Swipe on, swipe off.
Good idea to freeze the person on swing.
The wish…
